The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the stage of children's development from birth to the end of their first year in school, including their time at pre-school.
Every child is unique and learns and develops in different ways and at different rates. At Teston and Wateringbury Nursery Group, we carefully plan every session, taking into account the individual needs and interests of each child to provide an environment which enables all children to progress in each area of learning and development.
Every child has a Learning Journey folder which shows what each child is learning, how they are developing, what they are interested in and our plans to build on that. It also contains photos and observations.
What is the EYFS Framework ?
The framework sets out how we should work with children and families to support their development and learning, how we should keep children safe and cared for, the legal requirements for learning, development and the welfare of children and detailed information about the six areas of leaning and development.
The six areas of learning are:-
1. Personal, social and emotional development
2. Communication, language and literacy
3. Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
4. Knowledge and understanding of the world
5. Physical development
6. Creative development
